This course involves an in-depth treatment of technology and its intersections with culture, innovation, and economics. Systematic analysis of technology and its international dimensions will be required. Horizon scanning both in North America and internationally is needed to succeed in this course as is proficient written and oral communication.
The characteristics and sources of technologically capable personnel will be addressed as will the competencies needed to work internationally both here and abroad. Technological innovation processes will be introduced and explored. Throughout the course an additional focus will be on the resources and competencies needed by business, industrial and technological personnel operating in the international context.
The course addresses the three primary topics of Culture, Economics and Technology as they apply to business, government, and society. The course also introduces and/or reinforces basic foundational understandings of psychology, sociology, economics, global information sources, world knowledge and geopolitical forces. Throughout the course attention is given to key processes of contemporary professional activity such as, but not limited to, innovation, production, communication, supply chain, human resources, and education.
